RAK Police roll out extensive security plan for record-breaking New Year 2026
More than 70 patrols to manage traffic and protect festive hotspots
DUBAI – The Ras Al Khaimah Police have unveiled a comprehensive security and traffic management plan for the 2026 New Year’s Eve celebrations, coordinating closely with government entities and strategic partners across the emirate.
The measures come as Ras Al Khaimah prepares for one of the largest and most ambitious New Year celebrations ever staged in the region. Authorities expect significant crowds across waterfront destinations, festival zones and major roads leading to key viewing areas.
The plan is designed to ensure public safety, smooth traffic flow and an organised festive environment as thousands of residents and visitors gather to welcome the new year.
Traffic patrols
More than 70 traffic patrols will be deployed across major roads, tourist areas and high-density locations to ease congestion and guide motorists throughout the evening. Police have urged the public to cooperate fully, follow traffic regulations and comply with on-ground instructions to avoid delays and ensure road safety.
Authorities have also cautioned against reckless driving, misuse of party sprays, excessive noise and other inappropriate behaviour, stressing that adherence to safety rules is essential during the celebrations.
Operations readiness
The Operations Department has fully activated its central control room, equipping it with the latest technologies and trained personnel to monitor events in real time. Police confirmed that emergency assistance will be available throughout the night, with the public able to contact the central Operations Room on 999 for emergencies and 901 for non-emergency situations.
Fireworks spectacle
Ras Al Khaimah is set to welcome 2026 with its largest fireworks display ever, aiming to set a new Guinness World Records title. The main midnight show will span six kilometres from Marjan Island to Al Hamra, featuring a 15-minute display that combines large-scale pyrotechnics, lasers and more than 2,300 drones, including pyro and laser drones.
The celebration will culminate in the launch of the largest single firework ever produced.
The emirate’s New Year’s Eve programme includes two fireworks shows, with an early display at 8:00 PM above Corniche Al Qawasim, followed by the signature midnight spectacle over Marjan Island and Al Hamra bay.
Meanwhile, the free-entry Ras Al Khaimah New Year’s Eve Festival at Al Hamra will run from 2:00 PM, offering live performances, food trucks and family-friendly activities. Vehicle registration is mandatory via www.raknye.com to access designated parking zones, including areas for caravans and camping. The midnight fireworks will also be streamed live on the official website and Visit Ras Al Khaimah’s social media channels.
